I think it's about a guy who has no other reason to live except a girl he likes. Like, she is the only thing keeping him alive. So he focuses all his energy into getting her to like him when all the time she doesn't realize that she is what's keeping this guy alive, and she's getting into the big mess of things. It sounds like eventually the girl figures out what's going on and the guy is begging her to stay with him.
I think this song is about a guy who is in a releationship with a girl, but he has left her once before and ends up realizing just how much he loves her and needs her, yet he also knows she deserves better then him. He knows he can be the guy for her though hence the "best mistake" and the "don't let me leave you anymore."

Jbrandy10 is right..but i also think it can go the way of being about sum1 who is in love with their b/f or g/f and they break up with them...and being with them was keeping them alive also. right?

it definitely is "we're not sleeping." they're pretty much my favorite band. i cried when they broke up.
