Haha. No.

The song, and the entire album for that matter is in evident reference to Relativism and Solipsism. This last song serves as the summation of all arguments posed throughout the album.

Vision will blind: all things are relative

Severance ties: with all things contradictory, the act of severing can bind

Median am I: The concept of I - of self is at the center of my existence. But that concept and that self is indescribable and inexplicable.

True are all lies: Indefensible, perspective truth is all there is.

I think its a clever way to tie all the contradictions together. Everything is held together by contradiction, without it everything would cease to be. There needs to be contradiction, even on a materialistic level and not just in a philosophical, psychological way. I mean in actuality. Its the sum of things, the reason why all this exists. the reason why we act, and react. how matter behaves. Contradiction/confliction/opposition. Its what binds us and defines us. and it just keeps going and going, eternally recurring, and there is nothing we can do about it. You can contradict my statement, but it would only prove my point even further :D

My Interpretation

The conclusion of Catch 22, Sum brings visions into my head of millions of fleshy gray drones, ignorant of anything other than themselves. They are blind, a simple metaphor conveying the fact that despite their literal vision, their minds' eyes are closed. Severance, or being severed from society, ties our chastened faction of philosophers together. Meshuggah is median. Meshuggah is the means spreading the truth. All the ignorant lies about us are true. We really do want dehumanization. We really do want the destruction of the ignorant.

scary. if you take lemur's view. i'm not sure if it's got so much applied meaning though... i might be inclined to agree with skafe. it's almost like the key to the meaning of the rest of the album. apply the logic listed by skafe to the collected lyrics of the rest of the album. actually, printing out a page with all the lyrics for catch thirtythree is useful, it lets you see the album as a whole, because each song has about one stanza of lyircs in it. they all join up.

i don't know if i'm right but i've just have an idea about the song: he stucked between two levels (the inner self and the outer surface) and though he finally sees all the things in both levels, he can't realize what is true and what is false.

visions will blind: all the things he sees blind him severance ties: he can not decide what level should he go to median am i: he's stuck between his to selves true are all lies: between the two levels, he isn't anymore able to decide what is false, he just sees everything as true.

s+rannger you are close to the jeneral idea of the album.

the Album is about paradoxes, and this is a story about someone who felt the paradoxes in his life and tried to find the truth "Reaching for the inner bright, the very essence-sun of my dreaming bliss".

Guided by the fear of being traped in this reality-Lie Guided outside all shades of the perfect black by a fear blinded.

so the main character in the album try to find something real first he seek the truth in the personality in the "I", only to find multypersonality.

  1. Entrapment

Mutiny of self. Insurrection games convincingly performed Incapacitated by physical thoughts acting out the will of tendon and bone Have the bridges of insanity been crossed and forever retracted? Am I standing among a thousand selves? Is the multitude of laughters mine alone?

and at last he come to a point where he plunge deeper in his abyss across life and death "Only to find that self is shed" (only to find that this new state is a lie too)

at this point he can see the randomnes of the universe the chaos in ALL and to keep his mind in equilibrium he must lie himself. To lie himself to be able to seek the truth (paradox).

Personae Non Gratae "A lie to maintain equilibrium, to hold me in this dead realm - this last ever dream I'm the thought that never crossed my mind - disguised in the evident. Forever unredeemed"

  1. Dehumanization

A new level reached, where the absence of air lets me breathe I'm inverted electrical impulses. A malfunctioning death-code incomplete All things before me, at first unliving glimpse undeciphered Its semantics rid of logic. Nothing is all. All is contradiction

that is his failure.(Its semantics rid of logic. Nothing is all. All is contradiction)

"Vision will blind. Severance ties. Median am I. True are all lies"

And the big paradox is all truths are lies and they are true until you lie yourself they are "Median am I"

and the other big paradox "The struggle to free myself of restraints, becomes my very shackles"

struggling for freedom made him a prisoner between the worlds of "multi-none". He can't live in a lie again but there is no truth to be found.
