Sleep Lyrics
Leave me behind the black wall of decadence.
Burn it all. Dance with the flames that he dictates.
Breathe in the smoke and get high on misery.
Drifting deeper. The current drags you down.
Rest your eyes. Live amongst the shadows.
Fall into sleep.
Walk through the light.
At last you're on your own.
This time you stand alone.
Burn it all. Dance with the flames that he dictates.
Breathe in the smoke and get high on misery.
Drifting deeper. The current drags you down.
Rest your eyes. Live amongst the shadows.
Walk through the light.
At last you're on your own.
This time you stand alone.

So emotional. Absoulutely epic.
"Epic." The most overused and exaggerated term around today. UGH! I wish the song had been emotional enough for you to decipher the song lyrics. When left to me, you're likely to get a paragraph full of gibberish....living a dark, unhappy life that leaves one alone (or at least feeling alone). Sleep is perhaps the only time s/he feels at peace.
In my defense, I must have been about 13 when I posted that comment. But I still stand by the fact it is an 'epic' song despite how overused the term may be. Also, a song can still be emotional without understanding the lyrics, instrumental songs can be some of the most moving pieces of all, yet they have no lyrics to understand at all. Just justifying my lil naive 13 year old self.

The word "Epic" really only applies to Cult of Luna. It's the only time I've ever seen it and thought, yeah, it -IS- epic!
I think this song and album are more about feeling alone and diseased because the rest of the world is violent and primal. By proxy, we are all violent, immoral and hedonistic because the majority of us are; the reaction to this is shutting down, or "sleeping".
