When The Lights Go Down Lyrics
When the lights go down
He'll be a filling a pan with a broom in his hand in some dive across town
He'll be wiping the bar and mopping the floor
Counting his tips and locking the doors
Wrestling the devil that tells him to pour another round
When the lights go down
She'll be callin' her friends from her Mercedes Benz, but it's too late now
They were they for the fame the flash and the thrill
For the drop of the name, the parties, the pills
As another star falls from the Hollywood hills without a sound
(Chorus)
When the lights go down
And there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down
And the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
And wonder what you're made of
Well we all find out
When the lights go down
When the lights go down
At the end of the day when this game that I play has gone another round
As I lay there alone on this big empty bed
With nothing but thoughts of you in my head
I think of the things that I wish I had said when you were still around
When the lights go down
Yeah there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down
And the truth is all you see
And I wonder if all my life's about
The sum of all my fears and all my doubts
Yeah When the lights go down
When the lights go down
Oh and there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down
Yeah and the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
And wonder what you're made of
Well we all find out when the light go down
When the lights go down
He'll be wiping the bar and mopping the floor
Counting his tips and locking the doors
Wrestling the devil that tells him to pour another round
When the lights go down
They were they for the fame the flash and the thrill
For the drop of the name, the parties, the pills
As another star falls from the Hollywood hills without a sound
When the lights go down
And there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down
And the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
And wonder what you're made of
Well we all find out
When the lights go down
At the end of the day when this game that I play has gone another round
As I lay there alone on this big empty bed
With nothing but thoughts of you in my head
I think of the things that I wish I had said when you were still around
Yeah there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down

Yeah When the lights go down
Oh and there's nothing left to be
When the lights go down
Yeah and the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
And wonder what you're made of
Well we all find out when the light go down
When the lights go down

I absolutely agree with the fact that it could be about stars losing their fame, but I think it could also be about people realizing that they don't have to pretend to be someone they're not. Because when it comes down to that one moment when you have to make a choice and the only thing that you have is yourself, everyone, including yourself, can see the person you really are through the choice that you made.
Or I could be completely delusional, but that's what it means to me! =] Either way I love this song!
i think its about how the excitement of being a star wears off and in the end its not all its cracked up to be and everyone is just the same in the end.
The chorus, when it says
When the lights go down And there's nothing left to be When the lights go down And the truth is all you see When you feel that hole inside your soul And wonder what you're made of Well we all find out When the lights go down
makes me think of high school football on a Friday night, and how as soon as those lights go down, the true character of a man is shown.
I think it's about famous celebrities who lose their fame after a while, and the start to live regular lives.
I think this song is about anyone, who wrestles with anything, and theres a defining moment here this person realizes the truth, when the lights go down, all they can see is the real them, who they really are.
like at the begining 'Wrestling the devil that tells him to pour another round' when the lights go down, he no longer see's the pain, but the man behind the pain, the truth.
