Doorman Lyrics
Doorman you got an attitude
Ya like immigration in a cheaper suit
You'd like nothing more than to break my face
No rhyme no reason no colour or race
You'd like to throw me out on the street
It ain't my fault that you can't read
You look like a monkey scowling at me (ooh ooh aah aah)
Well suck my banana suck it with cream
'Cause all I wanna do
Is get closer to you
'Cause all I wanna do
Is make a mess out of you
Promotion for you is to stamp my wrist
If you're a good boy ya get the guest list
Ya don't listen don't think no mind of your own (yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Your job is prevention but you just provoke (yeah yeah)
'Cause all I wanna do
Is get closer to you
'Cause all I wanna do
Is make a mess out of you
Yeah eh yeah yeah
'Cause all I wanna do
Is get closer to you
'Cause all I wanna do
Is make a mess out of you
'Cause all I wanna do
Is get closer to you
'Cause all I wanna do
Is make a mess out of
Ya like immigration in a cheaper suit

doorman is about the heavy handedness of bouncers and imigration workers who have a highly superior attitude "your job is prevention" gives that away somewhat. the song is intended to be kellys dig at the world because of the way people act in a manner which doesn't cover them in glory yet they still have power (or at leat they think they do)
I just can't get over how sexy the chorus is.
Its about the heavy-handedness of a bouncer. They have no regard for their preventative role because theyve been given a purpose and are basically the difference between getting into the club or not, the reference to suck my banana although taken as a sexual or even gay reference is just kellys way of saying 'fuck you then'
Yeah, like "you can suck my fat one" or "suck my cock." It's not a gay reference, it's a fuck you thing. Don't really like this song though.
This is surely about when Kelly got ejected after performing at an awards ceremony for being discovered in the womens toilets. He claims he was just checking on his girlfriend, but the doormen were particularly heavy handed. As he was being ejected someone in the queue outside the club started launching abuse at him and the other band memebers. A fight broke out and Kelly ended up with a gashed elbow after (apparently caused by broken glass). Loads of pictures of this on Google Images. I wonder if the song Brother is written about the bloke who shouted abuse at him ('You walk right up to me, Abuse me on the street, Like a cannonball killing me') Just a theory
Kelly Jones once went to watch the Super Furry Animals after one of his gigs in Seattle and when he got to the door the bouncer wouldn’t let him in even though he was the guest list, eventually he got in and wrote this song. He said it reminds him of people with a suit and a badge such as immigration and bouncers who think they have power when they haven't really got any intelligence and he finds that type of character comical.
