I saw Waking Ashland on friday and some kid yelled out "played 'Rumors'" and they did.. that's how I remember this song because at the time I had never heard of most Waking Ashland songs except for 'I Am For You.' I love the beginning lyrics
The start of this song is amazing, but a guy singing about taking off [his] makeup really got me the first time.
This song is amazing
basically, to me it's about a guy that's in love with a girl (or guy, you never know) and it's a love that's not very realistic, but he knows it's love. That love pretty much made him complete when he fell for this person he's singing about. Then, I guess, he heard somthing about them that's kinda shady, or something. He felt like he gave a lot (the thing about crossing the desert to be with them) but it ended up them breaking his heart. He still is completely in love with this person, and everything seemed so perfect. They were there for him when he needed it. In the end, it didnt work, but he's still in love, and he still desperately needs this person.
anyway, it's an amazing song.

this is a beautiful song.. haha and KissHerBruises I dont think he was literally talking about taking off his makeup (of course I could be wrong) but I think hes using it to describe a mask, so that he can listen and be there for them.

no no no no!! this song def. isnt about a person!! this song is about god! waking ashland is a christian band and these lyrics are totally about christianity. he says "I'm in love with things you can't define" their talkin about their religion here. when they say im in love w/ things you cannot buy they're still talkin about religion cause its not something you can buy. All for you, the one thing I know's true. All for you, take me in and renew... this part hes talking about jesus christ; the one thing i know's true....take me in and renew....thats what i get from this song and i think its a one of their best songs.

i agree with strokes and phlp. i kinda say this from a Christian point of view but i was never sure if Waking Ashland had like a religious background or not. but what strokes and phlp said makes perfect sense, to me anyway.
