We Built This Come Death Lyrics
now you see all this time
work nine to five
monday thru friday i'm singing
i sing the blues for you
now i'm standing in the pouring rain
my feet are cold but i cant complain
and i wonder how you have been
i need you love i miss you so
i know it's right but it's always strange
how i scream
all this life's worth all the while
heartache and slave driving pain
i sing the blues for you
now im standing in the pouring rain
my feet are cold but i can't complain
and i wonder how you have been
i need you love i miss you so
i know it's right but it's always strange
work nine to five
monday thru friday i'm singing
i sing the blues for you
now i'm standing in the pouring rain
my feet are cold but i cant complain
and i wonder how you have been
i need you love i miss you so
i know it's right but it's always strange
how i scream
all this life's worth all the while
heartache and slave driving pain
i sing the blues for you
now im standing in the pouring rain
my feet are cold but i can't complain
and i wonder how you have been
i need you love i miss you so
i know it's right but it's always strange

Good song =)
"Some experiments gave men such pressure- in their heads that they would go mad and pull out their hair in an effort to relieve the pressure. They would tear their heads and faces with their fingers and nails in an attempt to maim themselves in their madness. They would beat the walls with their hands and heads and scream in an effort to relieve pressure on their eardrums." -Quoted from the trail of German Major War Criminals. I didn't read the whole thing since it's about 11 pages long, but the quote is about some experiments that the germans did.
Melfyn... what the fuck man
Hehe, its the beginning of the song. I'm not insane:)
Of course the lyrics don't make any sense, Eric Saner sang 'em originally and none of the original lyrics appear to have been saved or something like that. If you listen to the original 9-Song Demo, the lyrics don't line up with 'em at all. Anyway, these ones are just about how much working full-time sucks, which lines up with Mastodon's sentiments in the later piece, Workhorse.
I urge everyone to ignore all of Mastodons pre-Leviathan lyrics since most of them dont make sense. Listen to the guitarwork, the frantic drumming and the evil vocals instead.
Anyway this is a great song, I think its the first Mastodon song to feature melodic vocals. One weakness: Way too short.
Ddadutta? all? i dont think thats cool. there are some good lyrics on remission and the demo. most of it sucks but some of the stuff is gold:
anger precedes my footsteps haunting past comes into head horizon seems so far away this life close to end of days kill and i will be damned forgive and i will be free
i love that verse
Well ok they're nice and heavy, but there's little use in trying to analyze them in my opinon. Most the pre-Leviathan lyrics are simply stream-of-consciousness rantings about inner strength and revenge, which is of course hard as nails, but nothing more, like, say, cannibal corpse lyrics.
Ddadutta, I'll agree that the lyrics on the demo/Call of Mastodon are harder to make out, but the lyrics on Remission make a hell of a lot more sense.
Anyways, I think that this song is about how much work is a pain, and no one likes to do it. But, society kind of built itself around hard work and labor (look at the title and it makes sense).
Holy shit, I love this song...
One of my favourites of the older Mastodon songs. :)
