Hope and Pray Lyrics

We'll talk the talk that never ends
On a street that drives you around the bend
We'll drink a drink to fallen friends
And hope and pray we'll do better

My aching body slides into bed
To plead with the nightmare to end
To build me a home that won't let in the rain
Where I'll never he sad again

So you greet me with tight lips
Cheek to cheeck hip to hip
Words glide off my tongue and through my fingertips
And I hope and pray we'll do better

The dust settles on their front yard
Ad they drive away in seperate cars
The years have not been kind
We've know all along
Yes we've known all this time
We say a love such as ours
But then years down the line
We want to control what we can barely define
And I hope and pray we'll do better

I think that this song is about trying to do whatever possible to save a relationship even when they know that there's not much hope to save it. With the last part about how they drive away in seperate cars, maybe trying some time apart to see if that helps. But then as years down the line they look back and realized that it never was meant to be.

I totally agree with you. Did you ever notice how most of LC's songs are about relationships? Anyways, I think this is one of their better songs [on On To The Next One].

Okay...I totally take back what i said about most of LC's songs being about some girl or a relationship. Because I'm proabably wrong. But if you really listen to the lyrics, alot of them seem to have a differnet meaning than what first meets the eye.
