Green Spandex Lyrics

I guess this is the rushed goodbye
That I thought would never come
The woman who lit the light
For a family in the dark
Starring at the mirror
I see your smile through my own
Your spark embedded deep inside
Will give me strength
Will give us hope

And I’ll never lose your touch
No I’ll never lose touch

This will take me a while
Because I miss your smile
I guess I new your time would come
But for now I miss your smile
It’s gonna take me a while

Thank you for your loyal stance
Green spandex and crazy style
Thank you for the happiness
That you gave to our lives
Although now our hearts are cracked
And our tears are slow to dry
We must count ourselves
The lucky ones
For we were with you in your prime

And I’ll never lose your touch
No I’ll never lose touch

Please stay in touch
Because I need you in my heart
Please stay in touch
I need your touch

I don't really think it's about a girlfriend leaving, maybe a wife dying. Just purely from looking at the lyrics, 'I see your smile through my own'. So, either a mother or grandmother. A kind of positive memorial song. Just beautiful.

this song is definately about either his mother or grandmother passing. "The woman who lit the light For a family in the dark" shows that this lady was a good provider for an otherwise struggling family. "starring at the mirror, i see you smile through my own" his smile is something passed down to him through his genes, hence the relative.

He writes such beautiful music does Xavier, sometimes its hard to see the full meanings behind his songs..

I actually know what this song is about, he talked about it in a recent concert - its his wifes grandmother dying a number of years ago. Great song, one of his best - although an old one he never plays called Nevonotesh is probably my favorite

I finally get the song...Passing of a mother/grandmother

This song is definitely about somebody much loved passing away. It sounds like a breakup song too, except for: "Thank you for the happiness That you gave to our lives Although now our hearts are cracked And our tears are slow to dry We must count ourselves The lucky ones For we were with you in your prime" To me it's very clear it's about somebody dying or moving away. 'Keep in touch' could be someone moving away, or it could be a romantic way of missing a dead person?
