Mockingbirds Lyrics

Your voice is a mockingbird
Calling me when the day is gone
You please yourself with every word
Telling me where I'm going wrong
Telling me where I've gone wrong

Get me out it's starting to burn
I can't let go for the life of me
Some hold tight, and some turn
Another fire out in front of me
My whole life out in front of me

You can't kill what's already dead
But I don't blame you for trying it
The sun comes up and falls away
Two little birds makin' sense of it
Two mockingbirds making sense of it

What a beautiful song and sound. Easily one of the best song of the 90's.

To me, the First part is his bruised Self talking to the Evil voice in his head. By this point he has become so used to that voice, that it sounds beautiful to him now, as it calls him towards it. Second part is him, stuck in between the Visions of his own destruction ahead, like many before him AND the battle with his Desire (which, before was Pleasure) to keep wanting to be in the negative and not face It. In the final verse, it feels like his inner Spirit is telling him that there is no point in trying to kill that Evil voice as it will always be there and it's always been dead and doomed to begin with. No matter what...Time will still keep going. So both the voices play their Parts in the mind, sounding like mockingbirds. Two open paths to choose from. Time to Contemplate now and choose.

I love this song.
