The Tanbark Is Hot Lava Lyrics
the old returns
while the new can bore
you are the one who fell Into a self created hell
we've worn it out
it took time to realize
it's a chore to recognize
what your world could take
it's overgrown
take this all away now
real soon you will take this all the way down
the old returns
while the new can bore
you are the one who fell Into a self created hell
there is no way out
when you build a stubborn shell
that shields you from any help
we've worn it out
you tried to maximize
but it's come as no surprise
you hurled a stake into your own dome
take this all away now
real soon you will take it all the way down
bring her back
she was beautiful
bring her back
while the new can bore
you are the one who fell Into a self created hell
it took time to realize
it's a chore to recognize
what your world could take
it's overgrown
take this all away now
real soon you will take this all the way down
while the new can bore
you are the one who fell Into a self created hell
there is no way out
when you build a stubborn shell
that shields you from any help
you tried to maximize
but it's come as no surprise
you hurled a stake into your own dome
take this all away now
real soon you will take it all the way down
she was beautiful
bring her back

This song reminds me of a friend. He has suddenly changed- closing himself from all of his past friends and only opening up to a select group of people.. rendering his old, yet true, friends pointless. But the lines "The old returns while the new can bore. Cause you're the one who fell into a self-created hell. There is no way out when you build a stubborn shell that shields from any help. We've worn it out" completely reminds me of how I feel.
"Please.. don't...go...stay" - How I feel about our friendship.
I think the narrator has just grown frustrated with the situation. This person is a recluse and will not open up to any support and the narrator has given up.
the title refers to the game we all played as a kid in the supermarket where you tried to stay on the certain color tile and all the other tiles were hot lava.
To me, the song is about a friend who has fell into an addiction, and won't accept any interventions, despite how everyone around him/her wants the old person back.
tnbärk NOUN: 1. The bark of various trees used as a source of tannin. 2. Shredded bark from which the tannin has been extracted, used to cover circus arenas, racetracks, and other surfaces.
tanbark, im from the westcoast and back in the day it was about staying off the bark in play areas at all costs, jumping from play structure to play structure, im gunna go with the fact that its like a childhood friend in regards to the title and the closing yelling screams "bring her back!" ,maby a long lost friend that shut out the world and now they drift apart
yay!
