I think this song is about someone( I thought either Maxs' parents, and or a girl) trying to as the song say break up his band. He then tells whoever it is his version of what will happen, this is just my take of course, more people should comment this because its a really good song.
I think the song lyrics are pretty clear in pointing out that this song is called "It's A Metaphor, Fool".
The Lyrics say "...but none of them could ever get me hot like this..." not "high like this"
