thrice did a version of this song? That's amazing. I've never heard this version of this song, but I can imagine they could do it justice
Sinead O Conor was far from gay, Thrice changed the sex of the character in the song, son was girl, and so on... please don't insult what you don't know
i think this song is abt a girlfriend that is very domineering and the man cannot stand it but he love her alot... until finally 1 day she left him the man then found out that nothing in the world compares to her...
I had always thought it was a Prince song and he let Sinead Oconnor use it after the death of her mother, and she sang it in reference to her mother passing away....maybe it was just me....
all i can say is ..... the way that thrice did it was awesome. you can feel and hear the emotion in dustin's voice ....
i love the video for this, its so heartful.. the director went all over paris and filmed all these amazing sites and buildings, then when it came down to it they thought it was more powerful just her face on screne.. no shes not a lesbain.. and when she crys its real tears as she was crying about how her mum had died and all this other stuff. yeah... well dont diss me if i got any of that wrong!

Also, I heard this was about her boyfriend who dumped her. Despite the word 'mama' apparently being in the song at one point, she repeatedly says 'baby' and makes references to things that you might do when getting over a boyfriend, like seeing whomever she wants and putting her arms around every boy she sees.
Prince wrote this bad boy as; “Nothing Compares 2 U,” and best as i know, he wasn't thinking about anyone in Sinead's life when he wrote it. It's possible that she was thinking about a boyfriend or whomever when she was performing it though.
This song was actually written after the death of her son I believe she wrote it 7 hours and 15 days after his death :P
