I'm actually surprised no one has said anything at all about this being a war protest song. xD

Though...it does portray that feeling just a little.

Yeh this song could definitely be a war protest song. "no , destruction is destructive" arguing that nothing good will come out of the destruction caused by the war.

This song could also be talking about the "war" faced by christians against sin. Sorta like all the pleasures found in sin, like sleeping around, may seem good now. But in the end when you have to pay for it "hell will have no mercy." I think this could all be in reference to when jesus said "what good is it for a man to gain the whole world then forfeit himself, he must deny himself and take up his cross"

I'm really doubting this is a war protest song. Norma Jean is seldom striaght forward with their songs. They use metaphores for most of their songs, espcially on O' God, the Aftermath.

This is a quote from our weapons, "This fight is more important than your life."

could this weapon be the Word of God perhaps? saying to us that we are in a constant battle with Satan and his demons to try and take away our (and other Christians) love for Christ?

im not gonna break down every line about what i think it means but i'll try to throw some stuff down.

its talking about how noone cares about serving God. noone listens everyone thinks its gonna be alright and unless youre borned again its not gonna be ok. this fight is more important than your life, it is your life. or if youll have life after death. they're talking about helping people and laying everything out there for what they believe in.

and truly, hell will have no mercy. thats such a powerful and true line.

yes i'am a born again christian. and i see what youre saying. but cory states "i dont care, we dont care, no one seems to care". by that as i said i believe hes saying most people dont care, and at times even the ones that care catch themselves just going through the motions and not serving God to the fullest extent. i catch myself doing that at times.

but if he is asking why dont we care i think its pretty obvious. it takes an effort to serve God and most people don't want to fool with it. its easier to just do your own thing and not worry about serving God. thats why i love the last line so much 'hell will have no mercy'. it seems to me hes trying to get people to realize where they are and that Hell is real and no one wants to go there but you will if you've not given your life to God.

This is much less counter-intuitive if interpreted as socio-critical and less religious. they're supposedly giving their "lives" (literal), "hearts" (emotions), and "hands" (physical work) to a "god forsaken town". this is anti-civilization. the fight for the greater integrity and life of your planet is greater than your life.
