Tel Aviv Lyrics
The afternoon, it's one maybe two
Sipping away my last gold star, not so much to do
Dream away the sunny day until it's time to leave
I'll just watch you pass on by
When I'm on my own in tel aviv
With the blocks to one side
The beach on the other
And the trees and the leaves
On my own in tel aviv
And the trees and the leaves
On my own in tel aviv
Sipping away my last gold star, not so much to do
Dream away the sunny day until it's time to leave
I'll just watch you pass on by
When I'm on my own in tel aviv
With the blocks to one side
The beach on the other
And the trees and the leaves
On my own in tel aviv
And the trees and the leaves
On my own in tel aviv

The second line should read "Goldstar". This is Israel's national beer and probably was the only kind available when Simon LeBon lived in Israel in the late 1970s.
It wasn't the only one available, but it certainly was the most popular. You could get other beers. Maccabi being another brewed by the same company. But, yes, should be Goldstar - 1 word.

Yeah he was in a kibbutz. He had an effeminate friend who would literally scream bloody murder whenever the goats came near him.

This was never released, it was released as an instrumental, the lyrics taken out. The melody is beautiful though.
It's a shame the song never came out with the lyrics - but they look great nonetheless. I've never been to Tel Aviv but the music paints a picture in my mind, down to the Wailing Wall sounds of Simon Le Bon's vocal melody (is that what it's called) laid over the music scape. A great piece of music.
