I agree with cielan as to the meaning of this song. But given certain lines in the song, I think there's a small twist to that meaning. I think the song is about searching for God amidst life's troubles ("Where are you?"). It's directed to God, almost like a desperate prayer ("I'll follow you to the edge of the earth" or "Are you out there?").
