Winter Sun Lyrics
I could hear you fall
I could feel your body through the floor
And all I see is the red of your blood
For the first time
As I hold you there
As I rush your pale life through the door
I feel the heat rise up from your shape
In the cold light
Will the winter sun keep us warm?
In these cold times
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive
See them hold you down
I never felt them push me back to the wall
Still I hear you cry
Terrified for the first time
First time
Will the winter sun keep us warm?
In these cold times
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive...
Alive
I would give my life to keep you safe
For a lifetime
I would give my life to keep you safe
For a lifetime
I would give my life to keep you safe
For a lifetime
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive?
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Will it keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive
Untorn and alive
I could feel your body through the floor
And all I see is the red of your blood
For the first time
As I rush your pale life through the door
I feel the heat rise up from your shape
In the cold light
In these cold times
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive
I never felt them push me back to the wall
Still I hear you cry
Terrified for the first time
First time
In these cold times
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive...
Alive
For a lifetime
I would give my life to keep you safe
For a lifetime
I would give my life to keep you safe
For a lifetime
Untorn, untorn and alive?
Will the winter sunlight keep you warm?
Will it keep you warm?
Untorn, untorn and alive
Untorn and alive

This song is obviously about the death of someone or at least a close call with death.
I head JR wrote this after his son fell & scraped his knees (or something of the sort). It's an amazing song, though, because it's applicable to everyone and he sings it with such earnest emotion. Best song on the new CD, easy.
Every song on this album has grown on me alot. good stuff
The song is about the birth of his son.
I also read an interview that said JR wrote this after his son was injured for the first time. It makes me cry every time I hear it. My son broke his leg at 18 months, and the emotion in this song just takes me right back to that moment of panic when I knew my son was really hurt but wasn't sure how serious it was. JR is an amazing writer and singer.
