Think of me
Anyway you want
I can be
The problem if that's easier
In your head
Move the pieces around
Things I've said
Turn the memory upside down
And it makes it better I know
But sometimes it's hard to swallow
In time I will fade away
In time I won't hear what you say
In time, but time takes time you know
Tell your friends
The things they wanna hear and see
Start the drums
Band against the enemy
And in time I will fade away
In time I won't care what you say
In time, but time takes time you know
In your head
Move the pieces round
Things I've said
Turn the memory upside down
It might make it better, I know
But sometimes it's hard to swallow
In time I will fade away
In time I won't care what you say
In time, but time takes time you know
Time takes time you know

How can nobody have commented on this yet? It's the best track off of "Songs for Silverman", IMO. And I'm not kidding when I tell you Weird Al -- THE Weird Al -- sings the background vocals for it (it's in the liner notes).
i love this song....i suppose its about getting over someone.
omg...weird al sings in this song? lol wtf!
amazing. ben does it again.
Another song that Ben Folds sings that really sounds like Weird Al is Brick.
This would have to be my favourite song on Songs for Silverman.. equal with Late. Hmm.. Ben is so beautiful.. his voice and piano playing are immaculate. I just love him so much
i cant decide whether this somg is about that he's with someone and hes trying to tell them that like, one day they arent gonna love each other anymore or that hes already trying to get over someone.
my fave song off Songs from Silverman, although they are all great. I think this song is about the difficulty of getting over painful break-ups, rather than the prediction of it. This song is sung from the perspective of one former lover to the other. Although they have split they are still very close, and do everything they can to get over each other.

To me the song is about a break up. The couple has ended and for the most part they aren't on speaking terms. The person being talked about in the song is going around telling his friends all these things about their ex and all he is saying in the song is that eventually this won't bother him anymore. That they are over and the other person can say whatever they want but it is still going to hurt for now and eventually it won't anymore.
