Missing Lyrics

And as I wandered down to where you lay
The blood rushed up to meet the roses in your hair
I thought I saw you smile
Now I don't see you anywhere....oooooh
Whispering your love song in my ear
How can you touch me
When you're not really there?

Stumbling out I made my way towards
The open door
Climbing fast the sun poured streaming laughter
Down into your empty gaze
Where can I find you?
Now I want to join in your game.
I hear you calling....
I hear you calling calling (calling calling)
Whispering your love song in my ear
How can you touch me?
How do you really dare?

This is based on a poem. I love this song.

I believe the poem is entitled On A Dead Child by Richard Middleton:

Man proposes, God in His time disposes, And so I wander'd up to where you lay, A little rose among the little roses, And no more dead than they.

It seemed your childish feet were tired of straying, You did not greet me from your flower-strewn bed, Yet still I knew that you were only playing-- Playing at being dead.

I might have thought that you were really sleeping, So quiet lay your eyelids to the sky, So still your hair, but surely you were peeping; And so I did not cry.

God knows, and in His proper time disposes, And so I smiled and gently called your name, Added my rose to your sweet heap of roses, And left you to your game.

Dear Nick, About 20 + years ago, I read an article about Arcadia in BAM magazine. You

You'd mentioned that the percussionist on the album was emptying his bag of instruments, and you noticed a vibrator and a pan. Anyway, you said that the sound they'd made is on the album, but that the listeners would have to figure it out for themselves. I've always thought the it was on "The Flame." Am I right? Is 20 years long enough to wait for the answer? Looking forward to the new music! Thanks, Tz

You are extremely patient and therefore, should be regarded. The sound you are hearing in "The Flame" is actually Steve Jordan hitting an ashtray with a stick. David Van Tiegen

I'm in love with this song. I can't imagine anybody could possibly hate this song after they hear it. "Missing" is truly a masterpiece that everyone needs to experience at least once in a lifetime. Such a showcase of the talent involved.

It always gives me goosebumps.
