So Low Lyrics
If anyone rises at 6:31
and fakes all day that they're having their fun
They never did get it right
since they got it so low.
To anyone drinking the morning away
the afternoon will prove a mistake
They never will get it right
Now they've got it so low.
(chorus)
And we laugh and we drink,
and we teach ourselves not to think.
We never did get it right
since we got it so low.
To all of the faces that freeze for you there
in your memory when you try not to care
They never disappear down the slow road
For all of those people who bleed by the side
and split from their tongues
and sharpen their knives.
They never will get a life
now they've got it so low
(repeat chorus)
Cornfields and pig-tails and fish in the stream
the night when the boys stole the billion dollar dream
from the high-jinx school for girls
down the road.
Stories are smoke trails
and some may be true.
You're listening to me
but im talking to you.
I hope you never fall from grace
if you get it so low.
(repeat chorus)
And we laugh and we drink
and we find it hard not to think.
We never did get it right
since we got it so low.
and fakes all day that they're having their fun
They never did get it right
since they got it so low.
the afternoon will prove a mistake
They never will get it right
Now they've got it so low.
And we laugh and we drink,
and we teach ourselves not to think.
We never did get it right
since we got it so low.
in your memory when you try not to care
They never disappear down the slow road
and split from their tongues
and sharpen their knives.
They never will get a life
now they've got it so low
the night when the boys stole the billion dollar dream
from the high-jinx school for girls
down the road.
and some may be true.
You're listening to me
but im talking to you.
I hope you never fall from grace
if you get it so low.
and we find it hard not to think.
We never did get it right
since we got it so low.

I think it's about sinking into real depression. We laugh n we drink n teach our self's not to think, it's about preventing the worst feelings of hopelessness about life. Rising at 631 n pretending you like it , that's why yr low, it's about those who live in the rat race choice to mock n stab in the back those who say fuck it I'm not buying in to it all the bullshit n drudgery of life , on the edge people who are thinking life is pointless. They say I hope you never get so low because anyone who's had low low feelings wouldn't wish them on there worst enemy
I think this song is about getting older and setting life’s bar too low and reminiscing about how we used to have bigger dreams when we were young.
A feel-good song if ever i heard one.
Just really nice, a nice tone.
to me the song recalls old fond memories you have, wishing u could relive them. and also to not worry about those in your life that have given u so much grief in the past - they really arent worth it and are half the person you are.
i.e. "For all of those people who bleed by the side and split from their tongues and sharpen their knives. They never will get a life now they've got it so low "
in the best of album they say about the song: "another drinking song. its is again another flag flier for strength in numbers"
