Making Days Longer Lyrics
It's nice to hear you say hello
And how are things with you?
I love you
But very soon it's time to go
An office job to do
And I'm here writing songs for you
It's nice to hear your voice again
I've waited all day long
I even wrote a song for you
It's strange the way you make me feel
With just a word or two
I'd like to do the same for you
It's strange how a phone call can change your day
Take you away
Away from the feeling of being alone
That's the telephone
It's nice to hear you say hello
And how are things with you?
I love you
But very soon it's time to go
An office job to do
And I'm here writing songs for you
It's nice to hear your voice again
I've waited all day long
I even wrote a song for you
It's strange the way you make me feel
With just a word or two
I'd like to do the same for you
It's strange how a phone call can change your day
Take you away
Away from the feeling of being alone
That's the telephone
And how are things with you?
I love you
An office job to do
And I'm here writing songs for you
I've waited all day long
I even wrote a song for you
With just a word or two
I'd like to do the same for you
Take you away
Away from the feeling of being alone
That's the telephone
And how are things with you?
I love you
An office job to do
And I'm here writing songs for you
I've waited all day long
I even wrote a song for you
With just a word or two
I'd like to do the same for you
Take you away
Away from the feeling of being alone
That's the telephone

Wow, this is a great song.
Agreed. This is a great song, the beat is amazing. To me it seems like he's preaching to the past, with lines like
" It’s nice to hear you say hello And how are things with you? I love you"
that sudden "I love you" after the casual conversation you'd have after a break up just makes me believe he's talking to an ex or something of that matter.
i agree. this is a great song.
I disagree. It's definitely a love song, but I think it's a current love. He says, "I love you" and then goes on. He's at work thinking about her, then he is talking to her on the phone and doesn't feel alone anymore. He then comes home and hears her voice again.
I think a careful rereading of the lyrics will make it clear that he is speaking about a current relationship.
I also say its a current relationship, though the relationship is somewhat lopsided. He's really into her, she gives him these feelings of ecstasy and anxiousness, though it might not be reciprocated. He details the many ways she makes him feel good and only says that he'd LIKE to do the same for her.
Its pretty sad, though more like reality. These types of relationships happen more often than healthy loving relationships.
One way love. Sound waves for melancholy
