Man in the Hall Lyrics
I did not know
Someone died in my sleep last night
Tried to reach the phone
But in the darkness I knocked over the light
And can you speak of these images jacked knifed on the turnpike
And I'm on a payphone and its getting to be a cold cold night
And there's one man in the corner
One man in the hall
One man standing up saying God save us all
One man in the corner
One man in the hall
One man standing up saying God save us all
One man in the, one man in the, one man in the man in the man in the
Have you not seen the woman that belong to this one
She was overcome thinking about the role of the side you on
Have you not seen the woman that belong to this one
She was uptight thinking about the role of the side you on side you on
Side you on side you on
And she was telling me its already?
Just put it to bed
Said mom? I don't need to go to sleep not quite yet
Said no they won't agree if its them they want its me
And I will take you all the way to ??
And there's one man in the corner
One man in the hall
One man standing up saying God save us all
One man in the corner
One man in the hall
One man standing up saying God save us all
One man in the, one man in the, one man in the man in the man in the

I think this song is about sleep paralysis
The new version of this song on UATC is absolutely amazing. So... any frigging idea what it's about?
My friend had a great hypothesis about this one:
He said that it's about that one person who always points out the folly of something that's going on/ happening, and how noone ever really listens to them. We thought that it's primarily pertaining to war and issues like that.
"One man standing up saying God save us all" [This person's standing up to try to say to the people that it's dangerous to proceed this way,,, or something]
"She was telling me not to worry, that it's all, all in my head" [The people doing the "bad" thing (?the government?) always try to tell the people that they're wrong and that the government's way is right]
"She was uptight thinking about the role of the side you on" [Probably something reminiscent to President Bush's "You're either with us, or against us" shpeal, saying how the ppl doing the bad thing (?the gov.'t?...?war?) are always harshly criticizing THEIR critics in attempt to silence them.... or maybe something like that
yeah I agree with your interpretation
yeah I agree with your interpretation
I'd like to point out a flaw in the lyrics above, its "Can you speak up? A semi just jack-knifed on the Turnpike." At least on UATC these are the lyrics. Makes sense becuase he appears to be on the phone with 911. Actaully, that seems like a good hyposthesis, perhaps he is calling for help from these men that are in the house. Granted, there is a look more to the song than assumming thats even close.
Definitely my favorite State Radio song! And I completely agree with Sgt's interpretation. With State Radio being so politically active, it also makes sense that the foolish actions that the "man in the hall" or "man standing up" is pointing out would pertain to President Bush's actions concerning the Iraq War (or any other of his 2080204890 foolish policies)
this song is about "childhood paranoia" - chad
definatly about privite lobbists "One man in the hall" waiting to talk to a politician
This song always reminds me of the Rwandan Genocide.
