First One Shot Lyrics
Offed by just the man he
Used to know
Many years be four and twenty
And vertigo
Scarlet billows he breathes the sigh of
Relief of a killers
And keeps his eyes up ahead
So tip your hat
To the gentleman
Or at least
Nod your head
For only he, knows what stands in front of
What is
Medicinal at best
'Cause the first one to be shot
Is the last to know
And the garden that grows apart
Is it's only soul
Don't ask me to follow suit
It's just too late now
Our god isn't what you preach
We stand, stand, stand up
You fool yourself but you no fool us
'Cause the first one to be shot
Is the last to know
And the garden that grows apart
Is it's only soul
And the lines that you stand before
Is a line that you alone draw
With the world on the killing floor
Will history not teach us all
That your god isn't, your god isn't
Your god is no different
Used to know
Many years be four and twenty
And vertigo
Scarlet billows he breathes the sigh of
Relief of a killers
And keeps his eyes up ahead
So tip your hat
To the gentleman
Or at least
Nod your head
For only he, knows what stands in front of
What is
Medicinal at best
'Cause the first one to be shot
Is the last to know
And the garden that grows apart
Is it's only soul
Don't ask me to follow suit
It's just too late now
Our god isn't what you preach
We stand, stand, stand up
You fool yourself but you no fool us
'Cause the first one to be shot
Is the last to know
And the garden that grows apart
Is it's only soul
And the lines that you stand before
Is a line that you alone draw
With the world on the killing floor
Will history not teach us all
That your god isn't, your god isn't
Your god is no different

THe only thing I can really say about this song is that appears to be about the violence cuased by conflicting religons. The first lines sound like someone was killed by a friend they used to know. I think that the last four lines though sum it all up.
I'm fairly certain that the song is basically stating that God isn't this super forgiving force or one that if you do anything that is against Christian teachings with smite you down. I see it as state radio making god out to be someone who is just as emotional as us with a lot of the same abilities and disabilities, obviously very human. He sees you mess up and somethings just can't be forgiven but really whatever you did was ultimately your doing anyways good or bad. "And the lines that you stand before Is a line that you alone draw"
As long as you have a good heart and your intentions are good. It's up to you to do what is right I think that's what the "tip your hat to the gentleman" line is talking about, just be courteous people and and just lovee. Wouldn't it be fucking awesome if everyone was just chill? really the whole world should listen to this song at least once a week.
This song I never really thought about until the lyrics, now makes sense. It talks about the way war and violence is waged over religion and beliefs in "Gds name". I think this song is a protest against these types of violence, telling us it doesn't matter what you believe, or what Gd you might follow, we are all the same: human.
