Democracy In Kind Lyrics
There's a U.N. White and Blue
fell from half mast, now
half covering a red shoe,
half asked if they were us
what would we do
Mr Newsman send your wire
let washington conspire
you know the company men
wait for you in their lair
but a moment is calling
calling us all
as your one time supporters
hang from media walls
and outside the gates
fate is closing in
you can turn us down but you can't
deny the din
from the farmlands to the townships
the masses are classless
warcries rise with every hour that passes
the trampled voice of the past are seizing us
go ahead and load the magazine 'cause them bullets are treasonous
quiet
your leader is going to speak now
everyone turn off your mind
quiet
you're listening to a raid on the state of your
democracy in kind
fell from half mast, now
half covering a red shoe,
half asked if they were us
what would we do
let washington conspire
you know the company men
wait for you in their lair
calling us all
as your one time supporters
hang from media walls
and outside the gates
fate is closing in
you can turn us down but you can't
deny the din
the masses are classless
warcries rise with every hour that passes
the trampled voice of the past are seizing us
go ahead and load the magazine 'cause them bullets are treasonous
your leader is going to speak now
everyone turn off your mind
quiet

i love this song soo much, weird that nobody has commented on it. saw them live with badfish suspect and some other band, they were amazing and the crowd loved them. i know the song has something to do with the government or something like that.. but i'm not good with decyphering songs.
..id say the song is pretty self explanitory...lotsa references to the crooked democracy we live in...and how we all are pushed to buy into it...other than i dunno its just a great song. great band, too bad disptach is no more.
The lines "Quiet. Your leader is going to speak now. Everyone turn off your mind" are unbelievable lyrics.
The song refers to the fact that most blindly listen to and follow the leaders of the nation, like Bush. Many people don't think for themselves, so to speak.
I think the title is very significant. It suggests that we are living in a democracy in name only. The U.S. touts it self as a democracy when in reality we have very little voice. The government can do as they without much uproar because our "minds are turned off".
the most powerful part for me is when he screams "QUIET!" and it just stops
This is the best part - There's a U.N. White and Blue fell from half mast, now half covering a red shoe, half asked if they were us what would we do
it seems that they are accusing the UN of having a comunist agenda, but under the guise of democracy (being that they are largely controlled by the US (if they were us, what would we do)). Fell from half-mast, i would think, symbolizes the loss of liberty during times of crisis, hiding the fact that the US agenda is no longer to protect and defend the constitution, or freedom for that matter.

half covering a red shoe is also a shoe with blood on the bottom. So we are mourning the loss of liberty around the world when in secret we are the ones that killed it, because its blood is on the bottom of our shoes.

QUIET! This song is awesome. It's reminiscent of John Galts' epic radio speech in Ayn Rand's classic novel, "Atlas Shrugged". Basically, its a call to the people letting them know that their so-called democracy is not a democracy at all. The people in power make decisions based on their self-interests whilst the "classless masses" are left to fend for themselves as their government crumbles from within.
It's: "stadiar" not "state of your" in the chorus.
