Nightclubbing Lyrics
Louder, can you hear me?
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re what’s happening,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re an ice machine,
We see people brand new people,
They’re something to see,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright-white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re walking through town,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We walk like a ghost,
We learn dances brand new dances,
Like the nuclear bomb,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re what’s happening,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re an ice machine,
We see people brand new people,
They’re something to see,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright-white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?
We’re what’s happening,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re an ice machine,
We see people brand new people,
They’re something to see,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright-white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?
We’re walking through town,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We walk like a ghost,
We learn dances brand new dances,
Like the nuclear bomb,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?
We’re what’s happening,
Nightclubbing, nightclubbing,
We’re an ice machine,
We see people brand new people,
They’re something to see,
We’re nightclubbing,
Bright-white clubbing,
Oh isn’t it wild?

Should have been a duet! The mood of Grace's version matches Iggy's to a tee. Actually now that I think of it Grace and Iggy would make the perfect duo.
Yes, the song is about being part of an elite scene (art/music/nightclub/whatever). Being friends with the 'right' people. Living a glam life. Snorting drugs. Knowing where the after-after-after party will be.
And eventually you catch yourself walking through the streets at twilight amazed at it all and also disgusted with yourself.
Makes me think of Warhol's concept of celebrity. Or at least what my concept of Warhol's concept of celebrity.
Iggy pop did the better version.
Funnily enough it's about nightclubbing.
I think ultimately this song is a cynical poke about how contrived and pretentiuos the 80s club scene was becoming. the mood and languid tone of the song add to the effect
this was made before the 80s
