Our Singer Lyrics
I've beem waiting, anticipating
Sun comes up
The skies wont sink my soul
I've dreamt of this
But it never comes
But it never comes
The horizon
The natures dry
Faux
I've been dreaming
Traced out but dreamin
The sun comes up
The blisters burn my soul
I'm dreamin'
Of something now
Of something now
On the horizon
The natures dry
And all the gritty ones
Sun comes up
The skies wont sink my soul
I've dreamt of this
But it never comes
But it never comes
The horizon
The natures dry
Faux
I've been dreaming
Traced out but dreamin
The sun comes up
The blisters burn my soul
I'm dreamin'
Of something now
Of something now
On the horizon
The natures dry
And all the gritty ones

undynamic? its one of the best songs off of the album, and one of the best closing tracks out of all the albums out there. Dont know about a girl lol, but love the lyrics "Ive dreamt of this, but it never comes". The whole S&E album has this theme of futility and corruption...very fucking 90's.
musically this song is a tribute to/complete ripoff of the fall's "hip priest". the title, i believe, refers to a time where malkmus either spoke to or heard a member of the fall, who didn't refer to mark e. smith (the fall singer) by name, but called him "the singer".
I've always thought it sounded like Hip Priest too.... odd i never saw this comment before

I always believed that the title "Our Singer" was a reference to the opening line of Franz Kafka's short story "Josephine the Singer, or the Mouse Folk."
this song is amazing. i think it's one of my favorites of any song ever.
pretty obvious meaning, sm is too worried to ask a girl out
always thought it was 'and all the groovy ones'. it's a great, clanging, downtempo number to end the-greatest-indie-rock-album-of-all-time.
SM says fuck. Its a dream he has about being with someone and he can't make the next step. The thing is he is faced to look at it allot, so he says FUCK in his head.
haha, S&E is probably my favorite album of the 90s. Although this is true, i never listen to this song. It seems pointless and undynamic. but eh, has a kinda nice melody
