I THINK this song is about a woman who is in a relationship with a man who is only with her 'cos she resembles his lost love. I'm looking at the song literary not metaphoricly. "Secret, tell me where did she drown" Suggests his old lover is dead. The woman wants to know about this. and why. "Can you free me" She wants to leave him. "I'm moving away But captured in your chains" Sugests she knows whats going on and wants to leave but cannot as he refuses to get go of her, thus refusing to get over his lost love. Maybe the reason why she is asking "Can you free me?" Is cos she doesnt want to hurt him by just running away, and/or that she wants him to get over the other woman who is dead, get closure. Or simply he's actually kidnapped her. who knows. Now thats just my interpritation of the song, I know it might not be the real meaning. I love this song, It sounds so lovley in a way that would make you cry if you were in the right mood for crying.
Actually, I believe this song is referring to her relationship with a man. He's somehow holding her down from her full potential in life and she wants to get away from it all. In the line "tell me where did she drown" is really another way of saying "tell me where I lost myself in my own sorrow."
