Call Me Lyrics
Call me anything but lonely
Through a stone disown me
Let’em know I’ll never, ever be the same
‘Cause they all head on home in the morning
Get on gone when it’s storming
Let’em know I’ll never kiss it all away
When the morning sun comes
You’ll know I didn’t run
‘Cause when the rain came
It still never changed
Through the laughter and the tears
The pain and my fears
I’ll stay, I’ll wait right here
La, da, da....
Call me anything but lonely
Through a stone disown me
Let’em know I’ll never, ever be the same
‘Cause they all head on home in the morning
Get on gone when it’s storming
Let’em know I’ll never kiss it all away
When the morning sun comes
You’ll know I didn’t run
‘Cause when the rain came
It still never changed
Through the laughter and the tears
The pain and my fears
I’ll stay, I’ll wait right here
La, da, da....
These scars upon my sleeve
Won’t get the best of me
You’ve had yours and I’ve had my own defeats
This heart upon your sleeve
I’ll tread gently
I won’t rush in and run away on a breeze
When the morning sun comes
You’ll know I didn’t run
‘Cause when the rain came
It still never changed
Through the laughter and the tears
The pain and my fears
I’ll stay, I’ll wait right here
La, da, da....
Through a stone disown me
Let’em know I’ll never, ever be the same
Get on gone when it’s storming
Let’em know I’ll never kiss it all away
You’ll know I didn’t run

It still never changed
Through the laughter and the tears
The pain and my fears

this songs lyrics are a motivation for me in regards to someone special, my bestest Friend, my gf, my love that has taken off. we both love mat's music - early fans, and both appreciate him and his style... (come back bumbi, i'll wait - no matter where/what/when/how :)
i love a girl in Virginia.
i can't lift her scars, and hurts, and disappointments from her past; but i can love her for who she is, who she isn't, who she was, who she is today, and who she'll be tomorrow... (ie - she'll be herself, as she is, no matter what, no matter where)...
i can't make the pain she replays or won't let go in her memory fade, she doesn't cause it for me - as love keeps no record of wrong no matter how hot that fire feels... but i can smile. i can encourage. i can build her up. i can show her our true, heartfelt Friendship build from the years and years of building, trusting, and loving is greater than any yesterday, bump, bruise, or any challenge the road brings our way.
i love her, simply, sweetly.
i hope she takes my hand once again, and i can hug her, and we can smile together at the beautiful mess that life throws your way
snshie' love, always.
Once again, i must say that Mr Kearney is an absolutley brilliant contribution to the christian music scene. This song about the persecution of christians because of their faith. It draws on the biblical accounts of stoning christians "throw a stone disown me"..it's saying how through it all...the 'rain' the 'laughter and the tears', 'pain' and 'fears'...after it all ('the morning sun')the christian spirit never dies ('u'll see i didn't run') and how we will stand steadfast ('I'll stay, I'll wait right here').
The chorus is the pivotal message in the song....beautiflly succinct.."Call me anything but lonely" basically..."u can say wat u want bout what i beleive...but my lord is with me always'"
The second last verse, the one that talks about defeats, is another brilliant peice of Kearney imagery... scars are synonymous with the christian faith...the doubting disciples and the proof of Jesus' resurection and so forth. He's saying that although it's obvious he is subject to persecution...he uses it to reinforce the fact that through it all he will stand tall and stay true to his beliefs. Remember: he never said it will be easy...he only said it would be worth it...
