So the writer is talking about a girl who is constantly moving away and leaving, always running away from her problems. She sees things the wrong way, maybe as if they can't be fixed and she has to always move on. Even though this is the case, he still wants her.
And it's dangerous for them to keep on writing because well, it goes against everything she's ever been, and in the end if she can't change and learn to deal with her problems instead of running away then the writer will be deeply hurt in the end.

The girl, Chris, the lead singer was in love with, moved away to Califonia.. I think its this song is about how there is still something there between them and constand contact.
