She thinks I'm much too thin
She asks me if I'm sick
What's a girl to do with friends like this

She let's me drive her car
So I can score an eighth
From the lesbians
Out west in Venice

Oh-oh-oh
California in the summer
Ah-ah-ah
And my hair is growing long
Fuck yeah we can live like this

But if you left it up to me
Everyday would be a holiday...
From real
We'd waste our weeks beneath the sun
We'd fry our brains and say its so much fun...
Out here

But when its all over
I'll come back for another year

I look for work today
I'm spilling out the door
Put my glasses on,
So no one sees me
I'd never thought that
I'd be living on your floor
But the rents are high
And L.A. easy

Oh-oh-oh
It's a picture of perfection
Ah-ah-ah
And the postcard gunna read...
Fuck yeah we can live like this
We can live like this

But if you left it up to me
Everyday would be a holiday...
From real
We'd waste our weeks beneath the sun
We'd fry our brains and write its so much fun...
Out here

Hey Madeline
(Hey Madeline)
You sure look fine
(You sure look fine)
You wore my favorite sweater
Being bored was never better

A safety buzz
Some cheap red wine
Oh the trouble we can get in
So let's screw this one up right

But if you left it up to me
Everyday would be a holiday...
From real
We'd waste our weeks beneath the sun
We'd lie, and tell our friends its so much fun...
Out here

But when its all over
I'll come back for another...
But when its all over
I'll come back for another year

In punk rock princess andrew is referring to heroine the feminine form of hero. NOT heroin the drug. Sorry. It bugs me when people do that.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
