Burning Bridges, Breaking Hearts Lyrics
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
Everything they taught us to do
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
No home to come home to
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
I won't look you in the eye
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
Caught you in a friendship lie
Took a visit to your old house
The windows were all boarded up
Try to hold the memory of the ocean in a paper cup
There is no future in this town
They barricade the buildings there
To the lion you’ve been cast, only bones are going to last
There’s a city underground
There’s a city made of glass
There’s a city underground
Hurry, because it’s breaking fast
Burning bridges and breaking hearts
Everything you taught us to do
We’re burning bridges and breaking hearts
No home to come home to
Everything they taught us to do
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
No home to come home to
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
I won't look you in the eye
Burning bridges, breaking hearts
Caught you in a friendship lie
The windows were all boarded up
Try to hold the memory of the ocean in a paper cup
There is no future in this town
They barricade the buildings there
To the lion you’ve been cast, only bones are going to last
There’s a city made of glass
There’s a city underground
Hurry, because it’s breaking fast
Everything you taught us to do
We’re burning bridges and breaking hearts
No home to come home to

This song carries on the idea of Neighborhoods from funeral except now the towns been boarded up and is being burned. I suppose that means its about things degenerating and that everything comes to an end.
The lyrics "took a visit to your old house. the windows were all boarded up. try to hold the memory of the ocean in a paper cup. there is no future in this town. they barricade the buildings there. to the lion, you’ve been cast. only bones are gonna last." are about things ending and dying and trying to remember the good times but not being able to because the places you remeber are all delapidated. Its quite sad really - sounds great though, I hope they put this on the next album.
this is an unreleased song that the arcade fire has been playing live at some of their shows. i transcribed these lyrics from a live recording, so forgive me if they're a bit off. send me an email and i'll fix them up.
Does anyone know if the lyrics here are the same as the lyrics on the song they just released as a free download?
Never mind, it's an instrumental. :)
