My personal interpretation of this song is that it was written about the uncertainties of being in a relationship, hence the line "What if you get off at the next stop? Would you just wave as I'm drifting off?" The girl in the song is having doubts about where things are going. Sometimes you'll hear people say that they're "scared" to be in a relationship because they don't want to get "too attached" to someone (often times because they know that their partner can leave at any given moment) and that's really part of what makes it difficult for people to have relationships to begin with. They get scared and they run. Just like the girl in the song. They run because they don't want to get hurt, and if staying in the relationship means running the risk of abandonment, then some people don't feel like they have much of a choice. Really what it all comes down to though, is that having a relationship is really just a leap of faith. We never really have any way of knowing how things will turn out, we just have to trust and believe, and hope things turn out for the best... Also, the line "Yes I have to have to have to change the rules, I can't lose" kind of reminds me of the lyrics from another song that says "And you can't leave me if I'm already gone." Like I said, what really causes people to run from their relationships is the fear of being abandoned (as well as the fear of the unknown) and the fact that's absolutely impossible for us to control every aspect of our lives, especially another person...

Written about Daniel and how he understand her even when she is crazy and how he understands her even when no one does. She is so in love dude and it's so cute.

I think the song title is a nod to Coldplays song Shiver. Coldplays Chris Martain wrote Shiver about Natalie Imbruglia. He was trying to think of someone really beautiful as insipiration for his song so he thought of Natalie Imbruglia.

Another loved up song about being totally head over heels in love with another person, with just a hint of anxiety and 'what-if' in the verse which starts 'What if you get off at the next stop'

omg!! i can't believe theres no comments on thsi song, it's so addictive! Although after coming out with hit songs like these i am very suprised that she hasnt got more recognition for her older songs like 'do you love' and 'butterflies'... still, great song and no less than you'd expect from her! wheeeeeeeeey

Has anyone heard the Maximo Park cover of this song? Theres a live version for download and its awesome. It has all of the honesty of the original, but hearing a guy sing it puts a completely different twist on it.

oh well... the maximo park version is fabulous. i love the line 'if i never saw you again...' on theirs so much! it seems to lacerate my heart everytime. no joke.
