Lifesaver Lyrics
Lifesaver
Your timing's really strange
Catch me later
But can you please be late
And it's funny how your thoughts think they're right at all
And it's funny how your cause makes no sense at all
Lifesaver
Let's play a little game
Catch me later
But make sure you'll be there late
And it's funny how it seems you're doing things
And its funny how you find your peace of mind
Lifesaver
I'm canceling our date
Lifesaver
It's time you had a break
Lifesaver
I'm canceling our date
Lifesaver
My saver
Your timing's really strange
Catch me later
But can you please be late
And it's funny how your cause makes no sense at all
Let's play a little game
Catch me later
But make sure you'll be there late
And its funny how you find your peace of mind
I'm canceling our date
Lifesaver
It's time you had a break
I'm canceling our date
Lifesaver
My saver

its really good. i think some famous saint once said, "i want to be a saint, just not yet" something like that. it reminds me of this song. its actually a sad song, a song about hopelessness, you know, giving in. she feels these thoughts that she should do the right thing and everything would be alright, but she dismisses them till later, and goes ahead. reminds me of addiction. brilliant song.
This is one of my favourite songs, just seems like the person has given up and wants there lifesaver to come a little late, after they have drowned.
She keeps trying to give up on life, let it take its toll on her-- she wants to be finished for good-- but she gets intercepted by her lifesaver. She really wishes whatever is saving her would just miss her by a little bit so she could die already.
"And it's funny how your thoughts think they're right at all And it's funny how your cause makes no sense at all"
Her lifesaver seems to think it's actually doing her a favor, keeping her alive; but in her opinion, it's just giving her more trouble.
I'm not suicidal by any stretch, but this is a nice take on the feeling of 'please just let me die.' I think everyone has felt that way at one time or another, the feeling of wanting to curl up and disappear for whatever reasons.
It also reminds me of my mother, who has cheated death numerous times throughout her life. I seriously don't know anyone who has come close to dying as often as my mother has. She's had cancer, malaria and whooping cough. She's been in car accidents, had a loaded gun held to her head, and even caught on fire once. She's also a recovered alcoholic and smokes like a chimney. Aww, my mom.
Anyhow, lovely song and a sweet, sweet voice.
Oh, I forget to mention I really like the creaking boat sounds, too.
