This Is The Countdown Lyrics
Are you getting tired?
I think we’ve gone, and lost the fire.
But I don’t wanna fight anymore,
I’ve had enough, of this town.
I can see the signs,
and I can read between the lines.
But I don’t know what we were fighting for,
I’m just trying, to breakout.
I’ve been waiting for something,
I’ve been sitting for too long.
I’ve been waiting but oh tonight,
this one last try, goes on and on and on
You put your nets out,
and still you chose to do without.
the only to catch a butterfly,
is never waiting for the wings, and
The seasons bring change,
and as the seconds fade away.
I still don’t know why we were holding on,
But I’m still trying, to breakout.
I’ve been waiting for something,
I’ve been sitting for too long.
I’ve been waiting but oh tonight,
this one last try, goes on and on and on
Should of known better than to listen.
When the dreams, and the words started falling down.
Should of known, when I hit the ground running.
Did you think that the night would posses us,
to keep sober like the rain that’s falling down.
Did you notice when the clock stopped running.
Running...
This is the countdown; they say our time is running out.
I tried to stay above the waterline,
but never taking off the weights that,
keep us stuck here. In the comfort, and the fear.
I’ll never know what we were fight for,
but I’m still looking to breakout.
I’ve been waiting for something,
I’ve been sitting for too long.
I’ve been waiting but oh tonight,
this one last try, goes on and on and on

It's about never giving up!
This is probably my favorite song from The Everglow.
Yeh this one of my faves too.. I think its about not giving up on soemthing and keeing at that "one last try"
i dont think its necessarily saying "never give up." rather, why do we hold on so long. i think he is trying to break out of this continuous need to hold on to something that isnt making him happy, yet despite all this he keeps trying. they stay together bc they are comfortable where they are and afraid of what else is out there. it just reminds me of a recent relationship i got out of. despite your best efforts and intentions, you and your boyfriend/girlfriend "have gone and lost the fire."
Well, to me, I took it through the relationship aspect. To me, this song makes me think of him and the relationship he has with who they may be. It sounds like maybe he is trying to say that the relationship is ending/fading, which ever you like more, and that they are no longer really together.
"I think we’ve gone, and lost the fire" I think this signifies how he sees the relationship going, they have lost what they might of once had, the love/passion.
"But I don’t wanna fight anymore, I’ve had enough, of this town." I think this means he is done fighting with them, and is saying that he has had enough of her(town).
"I can see the signs, and I can read between the lines." This might be the certain things she is trying to show them, how they aren't really connecting anymore.
And the Chorus, just how he has been staying in the relationship even though it doesn't mean as much to him as it used to, but yet he still tries to keep it going, one last time.
This is just my guess as to what it means. I'm sure everyone else has their own.
the catchiest song on the cd. never giving up, emogreen you got it.
Yeah I see the relationship aspect as well, it could be about waiting for something in his relationship with a girl to happen, something big and then he realises it isnt going to happen
I used to think it was about a couple, or recent couple that tried to stay friends, that kept fighting and can't get it right. This conprehension reminded me of me and my ex-boyfriend. We broke up and wanted to remain friends. But we kept fighting and finally we stopped fighting. But then I read another comprehension and it was that they stayed in the relationship because they were afraid of what else was out there and they were comfortable how they were, unhappy. So, I think the second one fits more.

Not sure what it means. I think he's saying that he's tired of the same thing over and over again and not getting anywhere, so he's looking for something new...I dunno. Best song of Mae's in my opinion
