Losing Friends

"so many things we don't say so many things we should say"

"If I lose my friends I hope that I'm told I hope that someone tells me"

This might be about a hipster growing up, realizing everyone around him is ten years younger, and gets out of the scene. He's saying the scene politics were the birthplace of his hatred. He's sick of the pointless competition. This is all implied in the lyrical "verse" chunk of the song, but then it veers into the chorus about losing friends and I'm not sure how this would fit into the proposed storyline, but it seems like he's saying he wants to have real friends and not imposters posing as his friends. If everyone abandons him, he wants to know about it and not go on living with these "fake friends." This sounds like typical 'hipster'/'scenester' behavior so it might fit into the original idea of him leaving the scene.

in my opinion, when he is talking about loosing his friends, what i think he means is that because he made a change in his life, he knows he will lose some "friends" because he isn't part of the "cool crowd" anymore. thats what i think, PBS!

In my opinion it seems like he is starting to act a way his friends dont agree with, and he wants to be told he's losing his friends before it's too late to redeem himself.

my favoirte track off of Heads Up! all of your opinions are great, and im not going to waste my time on mine because i'd just be recycling what you all said. anyway, i love this song. it rocks so hard and the bass during the chours is killer.
