Astral Traveller Lyrics
Stood a man with glasses held high,
Wandering when to do it again
Have another fly into the sky,
Somewhere flying high.
Leaving without her,
Wondering where lights go;
Leave out the body load.
Get great respect in being.
(Astral traveller.)
Heavenly flight wondrous night
And all the sights worth seeing,
Just believe in.
Leaving without her,
Wondering where lights go;
Leave out the body load.
This is a jeuel lost in Time and a Word, a very underrated album. It´s about an astral traveller, but as in most Yes´ lyrics, Anderson forgets the subject sometimes, and just says beautiful words that fit well together. And I really like it.
looking over yes' early set lists [now online], this song was once a yes power hitter. after they dropped "looking around" [their first set-opener] they opened with 'astral traveller" for months - apparanty it was played in the usa before YES ALBUM was finished after which they dropped it. I've seen at least 3 versions of the 'astral traveller" lyrics, including one from a '70's-era official lead-sheet song book which begins :
"And in the ruins around the noose ..."
greatness!
I saw Yes like a week a half ago and they played this. It was so awesome. Jon's replacement sounds friggen amazing.
