Two Corvettes Lyrics

Going for a drive won't you come along
Wind in your hair
Picnic in the park

Let’s take a ride in my Corvette
Your hair will blow in the breeze
Everything's fine in my Corvette

Going for a drive won't you come along
Wind in your hair
Ribbons on your face

Two Corvettes collide on the freeway

this is my favorite animal collective song. i guess there could be many interpretations, but when i listen to it i think about two or more generally good guys going after a girl, and she can only pick one, and this is how the guy that it left out feels.

I think it's about him wanting to go have a picnic with someone but then on the way they die. It builds you up for something kinda happy then BAM car crash.

Anyhow I think maybe its about the union of two things that really want to unite and then end up totally: a) Smitten b) devastated c) dead d) having sex

so maybe its two people going to have sex who knows or its just as simple as it looks!

anyone notice the refrences to this song in the peacebone video?

Perhaps the meanings is simpler... If you have been in a car crash than you know how sudden they are. The lyrics leading to the final lyric are all very calm and relaxing. Then the beat becomes erratic and two corvettes collide.

i think that the first verse, is a man saying to a girl "Going for a drive won't you come along". The rest of the verse, is just descriptive of their ride... "Wind in your hair Picnic in the park"

the second verse is again somewhat descriptive yet, it explains the safety of being in the car with the male "Everything's fine in my Corvette"

the third verse, is same as the first with just one descriptive line being suttle-y different from the first "Ribbons on your face" I take this verse though, to be another man asking the same as the first.

then after the two verses have been sung which explain that it will be safe and fun, it then says: "Two Corvettes collide on the freeway"

as though the two couples crashed...

i think it's a bit sad.

I see their drive as the pursuit of the "ideal" life. The fact that the two cars crash is a statement that the pursuit of this life, everyones pursuit of this life only ends in a clash.

i sort of agree williaad.

but slightly different.

i think this is about a man taking his love interest out on a date, to a picnic or something, an how they're so happy together and feel so safe when they're driving together. but then they get in a crash on the freeway and die. but they die happy.

bittersweet and sad.
