Perhaps the climax of the album, Brett says this song is about a "doomed relationship". Could it be that the girl died? The note, "Estuary girl", "I will follow you to the unknown" seem to suggest that.
I'm not sure if she really died, but this is cleary a love between two people of different social classes.
