Annie is having a conversation with her friend, and Annie is telling her how boys are just material to her - Just chewing gum. When she gets bored (no more flavor) she just spits it out (gets rid of him) and picks another from the pack. Cause Annie is hot and has a whole line-up of guys haha.

Really smart song lol, I like when songs meanings are not outright it takes a listen. And when artists use metaphors like chewing gum. :D

it's about guys being chewing gum. you chew on them a while and spit em out. chocolate is decadent and worth holding on to and cherishing, but "oh no...you're chewing gum". it's about how girlies are fickle.

Does nobody else see the obvious metaphor for annie giving blowjobs? I'm serious... A new "boy" stuck on her shoe. Thats the chewing gum. "You've always got a new bubble to blow", "C'mon Annie , tell us your trick of how you keep them golden boys to stay". Yeah.

Had this song stuck in my head all week after I saw the clip. It's an irritating song, so repetitive.

i wish people would stop thinking its about some dumb bimbo blonde singing about 'chewing gum'. Annie is pretty fucking cool! She hosted the video clip show rage and it was good, she had really brillant dance songs on there.

I agree with nicoleee, although I have a few things to add.

"Oh no! Oh no! you've got it all wrong. you think you're chocolate when you're chewing gum" 'chocolate' here refers to a true love and 'chewing gum' is just a boy she's playing around with.

"Oh no! Oh no! a slip of the tongue. you think you're chocolate but you're chewing gum" she accidentally told this chewing gum person that she loves him, so now he thinks he's chocolate.

I heard this song first on the game Audition, and it happens to be the one I'm best at. Anyway, I used to think this song was so stupid and it made no sense, but then I realized that "You think you're chocolate but you're chewing gum" means that chewing gum is nice for a while, but then it loses its flavour and then you don't want it. Everyone wants chocolate, it's rich, you never really stop loving chocolate. And she accidentally told this guy that she's in love with him, so now he thinks she'll be with him forever, but in reality he's just going to get spit out. Haha, like that? Leetle joke.
