One Day I Slowly Floated Away Lyrics

One day I slowly floated away
One day I slowly floated away

All the war horses wore rubber bands
To hide their hooves from sinking sand
The commander in charge was hoping
That their destiny was not to die

Wake up in the morning
I shall wake up and so shall you
Wake up, the sun is beautiful
And it is warming you and I
Fragile as we lie

Hard to foresee the future
Our bodies are growing thin
Glimpsing the peeling paint of the nurse's ivory chin
You got a lot of nerve coming here
Your eyes are beating rhythms
Way faster than the speeding bullet
That took the life of your radio

Wake up in the morning
I shall wake up and so shall you
Wake up the sun is beautiful
And it is warming you and I
Fragile as we lie

And in the corner chair, soft and soap-scented
My darling cries apologies
We foresee the mercy
That's been shown my young limbs
Will not go un-thanked or unseen

Wake up in the morning
I shall wake up and so shall you
Wake up the sun is beautiful
And it is warming you and I
Fragile as we lie

I see this song as a story about soldiers in the old days. Even though they're "fragile" because they're at war, and things are getting bad ("our bodies are growing thin") they still notice that the sun is beautiful. Could be symbolic? I dunno.

This song..I think is about, at first, her boyfriend maybe being a soldier? And he comes home and tells about his whole journey, and she wants to float away with him.

That made no sense. Yep. But I really really love the song.

the chorus to this song relates to how i feel rite now. i don't know about the verses but the chorus means to me that waking up could mean like breaking a silence between two ppl that hasn't been broken in so long. and the part about the sun is beautiful is like the two ppl are wasting time of not talking to each other when they could and that they could have peace with eachother.the part about warming you and i is like there are times where the two ppl would see each other and have chances of talking but not taking those chances. so its like building up courage maybe to finally breaking the silence. so yeah. that's how i feel about the chorus.

I think this song is being sung by someone back home whose love is at war. She's saying their being warmed by the same sun, but their both fragile, she because she misses him, he because he's at war.

Definately about two people who love each other in some way or another. One at home and the other at war.

All the war horses wore rubber bands To hide their hooves from sinking sand The commander in charge was hoping That their destiny was not to die

(pretty obvious... hoping to make it back)

Wake up in the morning I shall wake up and so shall you Wake up, the sun is beautiful And it is warming you and I Fragile as we lie

(Even though they cant see eachother right now. They are connected by the same sun. And each day they both wake up to look at the same sun and feel its warmth together.)

Hard to foresee the future Our bodies are growing thin Glimpsing the peeling paint of the nurse's ivory chin You got a lot of nerve coming here Your eyes are beating rhythms Way faster than the speeding bullet That took the life of your radio

(almost lost their life numerous times at war. Its getting harder as time goes by.. but they are still connected.)

And in the corner chair, soft and soap-scented My darling cries apologies We foresee the mercy That's been shown my young limbs Will not go un-thanked or unseen

(ever so grateful for everything they are doing at war or have done)

beautiful song. I love Eisleys unique way of telling a story or making a point.
