Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
Whooo! I just realized that YtseJam...one of the best moderator people and so far as I know most active :P got his name from this song...mind you I've never heard the song heh heh buuuut it's so cool :D
It's a very cool instrumental song.
You guys should check out the instrumental song called "instrumedley" - it's an instrumental ppiece that the band plays on live shows and is composed of various instrumental parts from various songs. Totaly \m/.
This may sound kind of stupid, but when you say 'Ytse' fast, it sounds like a phonetic pronunciation of 'YYZ'. YYZ was a song by Rush that supossedly influenced this song.
Actually, the name YtseJam (which is also the name of their own recording label) comes from Dream Theater's original band name. The band was originally named Majesty, and Majesty spelt backwards is... Ytse Jam.
Yetse--referring to your comment on the instrumeledy, they do play it in track 3 of the live @ budokan dvd/cd (or whichever track Beyond this life is)...it's pretty sweet.
Havnt heard this song but I want to people say its one of the best DT songs but I cant get it and its making me angry... But I just realized that Ytse Jam is Majesty backwards thats kinda cool and the thing about YYZ is funny Rush is my other favorite band next to DT I got their 30th anniversery dvd for xmas its cool so ya ill have to look for this song when I can scrounge it up
