Plenty of Paper Lyrics

Something's growing under that wing
I think a face is dawning
Oh no the books are growing faces
And you're lost quite classically
With your nose in a book
And it seems so fitting
And perhaps this is the end we've sought after for so long
And perhaps now it's done

Because we've found all the dire dreams
Of men and machines and
Turned them all around our
Identical hands
Composing our commands

I cut the moon in half
And stuck a piece to my hair
It made the back of my head glow
Golden yellow and then I took
Ten stars on sticks and placed them in my small metal
Bucket and I gave the other half of the moon to you
Ohh, so you wouldn't forget me while i'm gone

Because we found all the dire dreams
Of men and machines and
Turned them all around to
Enjoy them and benefit ourselves
Our paperback books, our charming looks
Our identical hands
Composing our commands

And oh my love
We can live on the sun
And wouldn't we be attractive
Riding in our shiny motor cars
With eyeglasses full of stars
And plenty of paper for scenery paintings

'cause we found all the dire dreams
Of men and machines and
Turned them all around to
Enjoy them and benefit ourselves
Our paperback books, our charming looks
Our identical hands
Composing our commands

This is probably my favorite song by this crew.

Their lyrics are so hard to pin down. They have an ethereal quality of having many possible meanings, or no meaning at all. I feel that with many Eisley songs, there is a duality wherein each verse/line can be interpreted individually but the song as a whole has a meaning as well.

As far as this song is concerned, it makes me picture some sort of futuristic cyberpunk/fantasy setting, as strange as that is. There's definitely a message about technology here, but there are also references to fantastical magical events.

This song makes me want to go out on a cold, grey evening with a red feather boa and spin and dance around and kiss someone.

If anyone had a similar effect, do tell. :)

I'm not sure about the boa part, but it does make me want to go frolick in the street at night with some perfect lover.

Whenever I hear this song I think about a couple just sitting down and drawing together. I know that sounds wierd, but I remember on one website that said one of the singers Sherri loves to draw. And this song reminds me of just that, drawing nothing yet loving it and enjoying what you love with someone you love.

I love this song! It really makes me want to dance. I've never considered putting on a boa, but Americanmusic's suggestion sounds pretty neat.

It's all about creativity and fun, with books or drawing with a friend.

This song does make me want to dance. When I first heard it live before the CD came out I almost busted out. hahaha. I think this song is just about drawing. Yes. have you seen some of Sherri's drawings? Gorgeous.
