Happy? Lyrics

In this hole, that is me, the dead are rolling over
In this hole, thickening, dirt shovelled over shoulders
I feel it in me, so overwhelmed, oh this pressure center rising
My life overturned, unfair the despair, all these scars keep ripping open.

Peel me from the skin, tear me from the rind, does it make you happy now?
Tear meat from the bone, tear me from myself, are you feeling happy now?

In this hole, that is me, a life that's growing feeble,
In this hole, so limiting, the sun has set all darkens.
Buried underneath, hands slip off the wheel,
Internal pathway to contention.

Peel me from the skin, tear me from the rind, does it make you happy now?
Tear meat from the bone, tear me from myself, are you feeling happy now?

In this hole, that is me, left with a heart exhausted,
What's my release? What sets me free? Do you pull me up just to push me down again?

Peel me from the skin, tear me from the rind, does it make you happy now?
Tear meat from the bone, tear me from myself, are you feeling happy now?

Does it make you happy?
Are you feeling happy?
Are you fucking happy now that I'm lost, left with nothing?
Does it make you happy?
Are you feeling happy?
Are you fucking happy now that I'm lost, left with nothing?

This song's not about drugs at all.. infact in an interview with Mudvayne about the new album and the "reinventing" of the band, they clearly state that they have turned over a new leaf.. "No Facepaint, no gimmicks, and no drugs"... instead concentrating on their music and giving their all to their fans.

This songs pretty simple.. its about someone being vindictive. About them pushing and pulling someone around until breaking point, and then rhetorically asking "are you happy with what you have done"..

It seems to be a very angry song, no doubt written out of hatred from a destroyed relationship.

Either way this song fucking rips, as do Mudvayne,

I don't think it is necessarily about a relationship. Maybe it is just someone close to him (i.e. a close friend) that is hatin' and is just being a douche...

but idk, i could be wrong... only Mudvayne really knows...

I don't know what it is about this song. I think it's great. It seems to be just about people cutting you down and asking them if they are happy with what they have done. I may be wrong though... I cannot wait until their new album comes out. This song is amazing in concert! Guerilla Tour 05 owns!

In my opinion I think this song is about heartbreak, head over heals for someone... she has betrayed him harsh in someway. Broke up, "he feels dead inside aka buried" in this hole. that is me.." theres nothing else to live for. Overwhelmed with raw emotion.

"All these scars keep ripping open" - aka memories keep arising

"Peel me, from the skin, Tear me, from the rind, Does it make you happy now? Tear me, from the bone, Tear me, from myself, Are you feeling happy now?"

He has opened heart up to this girl, making him vunrable...opened his life for her an shared his deepest secrets.. She ended up trampling all over him and being disrespectful… right after he opened up his heart to her. Heart exhausted.

Now that hes at a low point in his life, the girl is getting pleasure seeing his pain... "Are you happy now?"

I hope that made sense.

This made complete sense.

"Now that hes at a low point in his life, the girl is getting pleasure seeing his pain... "Are you happy now?".

That right there explains so much. It is about the girl he has fallen for and shown everything about him to her. Just to be crushed and lose everything.

This made complete sense.

"Now that hes at a low point in his life, the girl is getting pleasure seeing his pain... "Are you happy now?".

That right there explains so much. It is about the girl he has fallen for and shown everything about him to her. Just to be crushed and lose everything.

And what's even worse. Is that women do that far too often and do get pleasure from it.

I think it means that he thinks that everybody would be happy to see him torn apart emotionally because of all the shit they do to him. And he hes getting tired of all of it.

i think this song has something to do with, cutting, pay attention to the lyrics, because wen you cut its supposed to make you feel good, but all it really does is fuck you up, which is basically wat he is saying about himself he is fucked up. and when he says tear me from the bone, he is referring to wen the knife cuts his skin, but it could also be interpretted as a girl fucked him over

this song is about child abuse. the book "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer resembles this song very closely. Daves mom is constantly beating and belittling him, making feel worthless and minute.

Peel me, from the skin Tear me, from the rind Does it make you happy now? Tear me, from the bone Tear me, from myself Are you feeling happy now? this is about how his mom is always beating him, peeling him apart, killing him. she says how much better off they would be without him and his father. does that make her happy?

In this hole, that is me A life that's growing feeble In this hole, so limiting The sun thats settle darkens in the book he talks about how he has given up on everything, given up trust in everyone. his life is nothing, growing weaker every day, and he is stuck in a hole, dug by his own evil mother. his only quiet time is in the night, when his mother goes to sleep and his father talks of how he will one day save him.

Buried underneath, hands slip off the wheel Internal path until contention he is buried underneath all of this in his life, and his labor that is forced is growing worse. he is wounded internally and mentally until he can win, and escape her.

In this hole, that is me Left with a heart exhausted Was that real hate? what tense be free Do you pull me out just to push me out again his heart is wounded, he loves nobody. he feels that he hates everything, nothing is worth what is if he could be free from his mothers oppressive offense. in the book, there is a point where she fakes out love for him, and after child services leaves his house, she goes back to where they started, hate beatings, destroying his soul.

Does it make you happy? Are you feeling happy? Are you fucking happy now that i'm lost left with nothing this is what he is screaming at her in his head. he despises her and everyone around him, he has nothing and its all her fault. its as though he is nothing.

thats my thoughts on this amazing song. read the book "A Child Called It" by Dave Peltzer, you will know exactly what i am talking about. its as if mudvayne wrote this song as a tribute to a boy who beat all the odds against him and broke free from a grasp of nothingness and hate.

If these lyrics were actually correct. People could get a better understanding of what this songs about.

"Was that real hate? what tense be free Do you pull me out just to push me out again"

..Is completely incorrect, it's:

"What's my release? What sets me free? Do you pull me up just to push me down again."

There are other lines that are wrong but i wont waste time on them.

To me this song is about someone writing about a person or individual that's constantly torturing or playing headgames with that said person, either in a friendship, family member or relationship, etc. The said person is constantly leaving the author emotionally drained from their actions.

"In this hole, that is me" probably refers to the emotion being constantly ripped out by the individual.

Personally, I feel this song is about people in your past having stepped all over you your entire life and having completely dehumanized you by the time they're gone from your life, and in the end, the scars remain and you're asking those people if they're happy that they've gone and destroyed who you are, if they're happy that they're ruined your life. Kind of a song about defeat, I guess. It always touches me, every time I hear it. The song's key definitely fits the mood, as well (F minor).

My Interpretation

I agree. The feeling of being stepped on is something we can all relate to and as those who have been stepped on can take personal satisfaction from knowing that those who derive satisfaction from the pain of those they step on are truly more pathetic than we (the sufferers) can ever imagine.
