Tender Sugar Lyrics

I run.
I fall.
What ripped away?
Check my body,
was it body or soul?
The darkness fades,
fades to the light,
disappearing now,
disappears from the night.

And all these nightmares
that I once had as a child,
when the morning always came,
it came too late.
What did my mind forget,
forget to hide?
Could the nightmare be awake?
I don't know.

In or out,
up or down,
never know,
it's an illusion.
Round and round,
on and on,
every day spins my confusion.

Not again.
Not again.
Not again.
This dream I can't awake.

What is real?
What is real?
What is real?
It's getting hard for me to take.

What I need.
What I need.
What I need.
A little somethin' I rely.

And the white sugar gently hides me.
Oh, the sweet sugar saves me.
It's the room that confines me.
Confines me.

Sweet sugar.

Yesterday,
back and forth.
Broken door no longer opens.
Breaking down,
need it now,
Mother's sugar always loves me.

Not again.
Not again.
Not again.
This dream I can't awake.

What is real?
What is real?
What is real?
It's getting hard for me to take.

What I need.
What I need.
What I need.
A little somethin' I rely.

And the white sugar gently hides me.
Oh, the sweet sugar saves me.
It's the room that confines me.

It just screams out drug addiction (cocaine in this particular instance) with a few psychological elements borrowed from the Silent Hill games...I suppose.

In attempts to analyze...

"I run. I fall. What ripped away? Check my body, was it body or soul? The darkness fades, fades to the light, disappearing now, disappears from the night." - Probably representing withdrawl symptoms and running to get her fix while losing a bit of her own self in the process?

Oh hell, every other lyric seems to relate back to withdrawl and getting high. Addiction?

"What I need. What I need. What I need. A little somethin' I rely."

Yep. Relying on it, clever, Mrs. McGylnn.

FINALLY! Someone else who immediately thought cocaine! Nice to know I'm not the only one!

The line "And the white sugar gently hides me." was enough to convince me, simply because the use of the word white.

I used to think the use in the Silent Hill games made the lyrics of this song obvious, it beng about the otherworld and trapped. but lately I'm starting to wonder, what symbolism is behind the sugar, do you think?

In regards to Silent Hill, it looks like the viewpoint alternates between Walter Sullivan and Joseph Schreiber (the dude who was in the apartment before Henry).

Also appears to be about cocaine, though.
