I think this song is about someone who for so long been acting like the victim and thinking they're the one who have been hurt. Completely blind to what they did to the other person.. Until time passes and they get time to reflect and see the damage theey did to someone who loved them so they finally own up to what they did hence " I'm gonna stop pretending that I didn't break your heart"
