@zben504 most ppl assume it means cooking the bird quail, but it's more likely a play on words and a reference to roasting Dan Quayle. At the time, Quayle had made not-so-nice comments about single mothers (among other things) and the Murphy Brown tv show was making jokes about him every episode.
