Love in Vain Lyrics
Well I followed her to the station
With a suitcase in my hand
Yeah, I followed her to the station
With a suitcase in my hand
Whoa, it's hard to tell, it's hard to tell
When all your love's in vain
When the train come in the station
I looked her in the eye
Well the train come in the station
And I looked her in the eye
Whoa, I felt so sad so lonesome
That I could not help but cry
When the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Yeah, when the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Whoa, the blue light was my blues
And the red light was my mind
All my love was in vain
All my love's in vain
With a suitcase in my hand
Yeah, I followed her to the station
With a suitcase in my hand
Whoa, it's hard to tell, it's hard to tell
When all your love's in vain
I looked her in the eye
Well the train come in the station
And I looked her in the eye
Whoa, I felt so sad so lonesome
That I could not help but cry
It had two lights on behind
Yeah, when the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Whoa, the blue light was my blues
And the red light was my mind

HE is and will ever be the one of the greatest blues- musicians ever lived. To me, he's somewhat a god. Love ia vain is one of the few songs that has ever made me cry.
Yeah, why has no one else commented? This guy totally rules!
The best part of this song is the last verse. It makes me feel like he was actually there, and he saw the lights on the back of the train. God, this is great.
This has been done by the rolling stones among countless blues bands and after all the covers Johnson's version is still a classic
When the train "rolled up to" the station.
This song is beautiful. I think it's worth pointing out that in the second version of this song (take 4 I think) the phrase "a suitcase" becomes "my suitcase"- turning it into a metaphor for the part of himself that's leaving with her?
In my opinion RJ must be looked at as a genius with a complex view of himself and the world around him. Therefore his lyrics reflects the man genius and complexity, in example, love in vain. I dont dare try to analytically break down the song. Why? Because I love it in it's most simplistic state . Just enjoy it and let it become part of your experience
i can not believe no ones commented on a johnson song!!
