Inside Lyrics
Free my heart to feel again
Free my mind to understand
To run unfettered
Pull the blinders from my eyes
Let me see the endless skies
And drown here where I stand
In the beauty of the land
[Chorus]
And all my life
It lay inside
For all my life
Tear this anger from my soul
Wash me clean and leave me whole
leave me higher
Work my hands to make them strong
Lift my arms to carry on
That anywhere I go
To never be alone
[Chorus]
We were always leaving
Since we started breathing
And running back no wonder
We are torn asunder
[Repeat: x2]
To give me life
Free my mind to understand
To run unfettered
Pull the blinders from my eyes
And drown here where I stand
In the beauty of the land
And all my life
It lay inside
For all my life
Wash me clean and leave me whole
leave me higher
Work my hands to make them strong
Lift my arms to carry on
That anywhere I go
To never be alone
Since we started breathing
And running back no wonder
We are torn asunder
To give me life

It is definitely about something inside (just as the title suggests), but whatever it is is deep and buried. I agree completely with Moonlapse Vertigo that this is about being weighed down by self-righteousness, anger, and so forth. What is buried deep within is forgiveness and love and until it comes out this individual will never be able to move forward.
This is an excellent song, one of the best by Toad. Its a shame it isn't well known.
This song for me is about someone realizing how Inside us all is this ignorance and self righteousness and he wants to be cleansed of it so he can go and live his life free of such burdens (Tear this anger from my soul Wash me clean and leave me whole)
This song also deals with in the very first verse, a feeling inside that he's wrestling with bigot feelings (the ignorant theme again) and how if he didn't have those feelings weighing him down, he'd have a free heart & a free mind and better clarity of life hes leading. (Free my heart to feel again Free my mind to understand To run undeterred)
He feels once the burdens of such feelings hes wresting with Inside him are lifted he will then be able to appreciate more wholly the beauty of the world around him. (Pull the blinders from my eyes Let me see the endless skies And drown here where I stand In the beauty of the land)
Just one of the best TTWS songs created. They're all amazing.
This song as far as I understand is about some one that wnts to be free from an old love to be able to love again. Great lyrics and better music.
