Stones Lyrics
Lights on the stones on backed up drain
Warped lovers loosed on languid stain
We've come together to gather stars
Shooting up stones our powdered hearts
Dead or alive
There's danger
The dead are all right, with me
We're not gonna run away,
We're not gonna leave you stranger
Turn the light on, yr lonely love
Camera on the haunted stones
Bloodshed a gentle painted score
Notes dance in ink across yr skin
Heiroglyphic lover, nature friend
Dead or alive
There's danger
The dead are all right, with me
We're not gonna run away,
We're not gonna leave you stranger
Turn the light on, yr lonely love
Warped lovers loosed on languid stain
We've come together to gather stars
Shooting up stones our powdered hearts
There's danger
The dead are all right, with me
We're not gonna run away,
We're not gonna leave you stranger
Turn the light on, yr lonely love
Bloodshed a gentle painted score
Notes dance in ink across yr skin
Heiroglyphic lover, nature friend
There's danger
The dead are all right, with me
We're not gonna run away,
We're not gonna leave you stranger
Turn the light on, yr lonely love

fair cop, i only smoke pot, so i wouldnt know. love the song tho, the intro could go on forever and i wouldnt mind. I've found SY to be so under rated, there are some real gems in their discography.
i think this song is quite obvious, its about being on crack or meth, and making love to a stranger, "Warped lovers loosed on languid stain" two lovers who are both high on the drug, languid stain being the slowed sluggish effect you get from the drug, maybe?
meth and crack are both uppers and wouldnt have slowed sluggish effects.
"Shooting up stones our powdered hearts" this points clearly to heroin.
hard to say what the lyrics are about (I'm usually not too good at this) but this is by far, definitely one of my all time favourite Sonic Youth songs. So incredibly awesome.
yeah drugs bla bla but it makes me feel good coz i dont wanna be left alone. thurston moore anytime
Without doubt my favourite Sonic Youth song - the melodic guitar layers are simply gorgeous. There are enough melodies in here to have spawned several great songs, and they went and crammed it all into one, the cheeky gits.
