Well I think that the verses really are self-explanatory. Actually: so is the song. I can't really look into this any deeper, because I probably wouldn't find anything. A nice, simple song - not a big fan of the repetition of "babe" in the chorus. "I will be the one babe" - sounds a bit sleazy.

i think its because there relationship is going through a rough stage and he know he cant be there and be "the one" for a while coz his going out of town alot but his just telling her that sooner or later he will come bak and they can get married or wateva. at least thats wat i think

The first few verses are self explanatory - they're both busy and he's going to be spending more time away from home, but he wants her to know that he loves her, thinks about her and that their relationship will work.

I don't understand the repitition of "someday, someday I will be here babe / Someday, someday I will be the one babe." Isn't her already the one? Isn't that what he's telling her? Repeating 'someday someday' makes it sound like it's far off and not certain. I seem to think these choruses contradict the first 2 verses somewhat.

This song was written by the singers ex girlfriend and it was written for the main singer to sing

The first time I heard this song, I thought that this song was about him trying to convince this girl that even though they won't see each other as much and they've got lives to start, let's say they're students parting ways, that when things sort themselves out, they could be together, but hadn't yet.
What makes me think they were never together yet? "And you've reiterated the fact that you don't want to get into something that's just gonna have to end later."

I'd rest my case there and walk away, but the one line that doesn't work, "Don't let that overtake the fact that before all that, you were still my girl."

What? Were still my girl? Lost me.

But yeah, other than that, I could justify it as a promise between two close friends that aren't ready to be something more yet.

Hes with a girl and complications have arised - where they have to go their seperate ways for awhile. He obviously loves her, and is asking her to wait for him because "hes not so far away" - as he has to get things done first, but he will return to her

No, I think these lyrics are wrong. It's supposed to be, "Don't let that overtake the fact that before all that, you're still my girl." Meaning, the most important thing isn't making money or sorting out their lives, but the fact that they love each other. If that makes sense. That's what I've always heard it as, anyway.

This song may be self explanitory, but applies to so many situations. Its just really about timing. Breaking up does not mean ending love. It just means ending the current relationship and the current situation. It doesn't mean you will never be together again. At least, I can be hopeful.
